Bathroom renovations in Lara.
Lara’s mix of established family homes and a strong retiree community means two very common jobs — modernising tired family bathrooms, and converting old shower-over-bath setups into safe, step-free walk-in showers for ageing in place.
The Lara bathroom story.
Walk-in shower conversions for ageing in place.
Lara has a strong, settled retiree community in its older streets, and the most common request we get here is converting an old shower-over-bath or a hobbed shower into a safe, step-free walk-in. That means removing the trip hazard, reinforcing the walls for grab rails, laying slip-resistant tiles and fitting a shower seat and lever tapware — so people can stay in the home they love. We can work from an occupational therapist’s plan for NDIS or VA&EP funded modifications.
Family bathroom renovations.
Lara’s established family homes — many from the 1970s through the 1990s, plus the newer estates around the town centre — have plenty of dated main bathrooms ready for a full renovation. Modern layouts, durable family-friendly finishes, better storage, and a separate bath where the household still wants one.
Older stock, original waterproofing.
The older Lara homes carry the same risk as the rest of Geelong’s mature stock — original or non-compliant waterproofing that’s let go behind the tiles. We strip back, check the framing and subfloor, and re-membrane to AS 3740 before re-tiling, so a renovation done for safety or comfort doesn’t hide a leak.
