Geelong bathroom renovation cost calculator
This calculator gives you a ballpark price for a bathroom renovation based on the size, the scope of work and the extras you choose. It's a guide only - every bathroom hides surprises, so a firm quote needs a quick site visit.
What this bathroom renovation estimate includes
- Includes demolition, waterproofing to AS 3740, wall and floor tiling, mid-range fixtures and fittings, plumbing and electrical to existing points, and rubbish removal.
- Excludes structural changes, moving walls or windows, and asbestos removal - these are quoted separately if found.
- Assumes a standard ground-floor bathroom with reasonable access; second-storey or tight-access jobs cost more.
- Fixture allowances assume mid-range Australian brands - premium tapware, stone tops and imported tiles add cost.
- A firm price needs a site visit; hidden water damage, old wiring or non-compliant plumbing only show up once the old bathroom comes out.
Cost calculator questions
How long does a full bathroom renovation take?
A full strip-out reno is usually 3 to 4 weeks on site once it starts, allowing for waterproofing cure times and fixture lead times. A cosmetic refresh can be done in 1 to 2 weeks.
Why is the estimate such a wide range?
Bathrooms hide surprises. Water damage, old wiring, out-of-level floors and non-compliant plumbing only appear once the old bathroom is stripped out. The range covers a straightforward job through to one needing extra remedial work.
Do I need council approval?
A like-for-like renovation usually doesn't, but work that moves plumbing, alters drainage or changes the structure may. Either way, waterproofing must comply with AS 3740 and be certified.
What adds the most cost?
Relocating plumbing, full floor-to-ceiling tiling, a freestanding bath, underfloor heating, stone benchtops and premium tapware are the big drivers. Keeping fixtures in their existing spots saves the most.
Is waterproofing included?
Yes - our estimates include waterproofing to Australian Standard AS 3740, which is a legal requirement for wet areas. Never let anyone skip or shortcut it.
Will I get a fixed price?
After a site visit, yes. You get an itemised fixed-price quote so you know exactly what's included before any work starts.
